Diaper Bag Packing List

One of the most crucial components of taking care of a baby is……

the diaper bag!!!!

Most mamas in recent times are on the go in some fashion. This could include grocery shopping, church, meeting up with friends (extremely important for your sanity), or just taking your sweet bundle out of the house for an adventure.

The issue with taking your baby anywhere is that they still need to go to the bathroom, and the still need to eat. That is where the diaper bag comes into play.

Your diaper bag can be as inclusive as you like, but here is what I have packed in ours:

  • the bag
    • so many designs to choose from, but we have this amazing Paperclip bag that was a gift from Luke and Monica

BODHI - Paperclip

  • changing pad
    • you don’t necessarily want to rely on a public location to make sure the changing table is sanitary enough
  • 2 diaper covers & 5-6 inserts
    • we are using cloth diapers, so this would just be maybe 5-6 disposable diapers
  • wipes
    • I made our reusable wipes out of flannel cloth and will update the wipe solution that we’ll be using when I find one I stick with
  • diaper cream
    • diaper rash is not fun, so try to have some of this on hand
  • sunscreen
    • we’ve recently moved from Hawaii to South Carolina, so sunscreen (especially for my poor ginger skin) has become essential, and baby skin is extra delicate
  • wrapCitadel
    • baby wearing is such a great way to haul your sweet baby around and still have access to your hands!
    • I have this super comfortable wrap from Tuck & Bundle that is so lightweight, yet secure
  • hand sanitizer
    • you might not always have access to a sink to wash your hands, but more importantly if OTHER people want to touch your baby, you don’t know when they last washed THEIR hands
  • blanket
    • sometimes Starbucks can be a little chilly, so it can’t hurt to have a little something to keep your baby cozy
  • burp cloths
    • having a couple of these handy to clean up spit up or small spills is always helpful
  • wet bag
    • cloth diapering involves washing the diapers in their own load of laundry, so a wet bag makes it easy to get these soiled items home without getting the mess all over your diaper bag
    • these are useful for disposable diapering as well, since babies can have blowouts that ruin their outfits!
  • nursing pads
    • you will probably leak…..from your nipples……even if you aren’t breastfeeding (at least until your supply dries up)
  • extra baby outfit
    • babies are messy…..maybe even pack two of these
  • toy or teether
    • a simple rattle or teether would be perfect for a little one (check out Lovevery for their developmentally appropriate toys, like this awesome cloth rattle)
